Presence Of Fading

this work is inspired by the edges of a scarf gifted to me by my aunt, who had inherited it from her grandmother. It is a tradition among palastenian women to preserve the lace edging from worn or damaged scarves and sew it onto a new piece of fabric. The handmade lace is a structure that outlives the scarves themselves as they slowly deteriorate.
